Barack Obama is Neville Chamberlain...

Barack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev agreed to a treaty to "reset" our foreign relations with Russia and decrease nuclear stock for both countries. The POTUS sees this as a signal to other countries that we are willing to negotiate and take on less of a role as the world's police force (for lack of a better term). This seems very reminiscent of the treaty signed between Neville Chamberlain and Adolf Hitler in 1938. Treaties don't mean anything if one of the two parties is insincere. -

This would all be wonderful if it would, in any way what-so-ever, deter the Iranians and North Koreans from continuing to proliferate nuclear technology. Our intelligence officials, as well as a multitude of international officials, have clearly stated that they believe both countries are absolutely attempting to solidify a nuclear arsenal. Our president, however, seems to think that a showing of good will is all we need to enter into a happy marriage with foreign nationalists. Apparently, the POTUS has never read the theory of nuclear deterrence or "mutual assured destruction". -

The bottom line is this - Hawks eat Doves. We live in the real world...a world of globalization and we have to treat it as such. Most Americans have it so good that they are able to live life in bubble, where everything is based on feelings and aesthetics, rather than facts. If you examine the history of the world, there has always been one great superpower, or a competition between several superpowers, that lead to conflict and wars (including cold wars) that eventually lead to one emerging on top. We are currently on top, but our own politicians are doing their best to knock us down a few pegs. We deserve it though...we're such bullies...bullies that provide billions of dollars to other countries who hate us. We MUST continue to be Hawks...we cannot afford to appear weak to the fascist leaders in these other countries. All countries must know, with absolute certainty, that if you attack us, particularly with nuclear weapons, we WILL annihilate you, period. If we do not take that stance, we are subject to the threat of nuclear attacks from countries who will use rogue terrorists to do their dirty work, knowing that we will not respond with devastating retaliation. This is the entire point of nuclear deterrence...it works...so use it.

After Hiroshima and Nagasaki, WWII was over. Sometimes compassion and reality cannot coexist.
